3-WEEK SESSION: Expensive, Confusing, RUDE!"

Julie Fielden

New Orleans, 70115

I registered two of my children to attend the 3 week summer session. The camp was fairly expensive relative to others, but it seemed like a unique experience so we were happy to give it a shot. The registration process was difficult and confusing. There was no info on how to register online. Turns out that this is the process: (1) you call them; (2) they email you the forms; (3) you complete the forms; (4) you deliver the forms: (5) they call you to receive final payment. The biggest challenge is that no one tells you this. You just have to keep asking, "What do I do next?", "How do I pay you?", etc. I was asked to become a community member and was told that the fee for membership would be deducted from the total cost of the camp, which it was not. After spending another $150 per kid on supplies, they began camp and were really disappointed in most of the activities. The kids did really enjoy glassblowing, though, which ended after the first 2 weeks. At that point, my kids no longer wanted to attend! I really wanted them to hang in there. However, on Tuesday of the final week, I needed to pick them up early. I called to give them notice, as previously requested, and the owner was outrageously rude. She told me that I COULDN'T PICK UP MY KIDS because they were in the middle of an activity. Of course, I did anyway and she was incredibly rude. On the way home, my kids told me that after we got off the phone, she went into the work area and harassed them - made my youngest clean the clay bits, which had accumulated over the session, off the floor & yelled at my oldest for getting water, something that up until that point was permitted. I WOULDN'T LET HER NEAR MY KIDS AGAIN. To be fair, my kids loved 2 of the artists. Too bad this place isn't under better management. It could be a great place!
