At HS Kids: actors, sculptors, and cooks, students live the Italian language in week-long camps in the hills outside Assisi. (1-4 weeks). HS Kids is for 7 -16 year olds. Once they are here at HS, kids do activities with other students of the same age.Mornings, students put on short, funny plays in Italian and make their own improvised costumes, too; Or, they make traditional Italian cakes and desserts (tiramisu is, of course, a favorite) with our lively Italian cook; in the morning sculpture class, they make sculptures with found objects from the fields and woods around HS.Afternoons, students hike, swim in the nearby natural springs, visit Assisi where they act as tour guides (in Italian, naturalmente!) to its medieval castle, Roman amphitheater, and lively Renaissance frescoes, or stay at HS for art and gardening projects. Their first afternoon, they create and hand-bind journals which become their trip books; every evening, they write in Italian (with the help of HS staff) about their day.After dinner, by the light of fireflies, we play traditional Italian games outside on the HS lawn or go into Assisi's Piazza del Comune for ice cream, concerts (scheduled or improvised) and for the gentle hum of piazza life.HS Kids home-base is our turn-of-the-century schoolhouse, in the hills outside Assisi.
