The YMCA mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
When we talk about our “core” at the YMCA, we discuss more than the strength of muscles. We talk about our mission and the values that we are built upon. For more than 150 years, the YMCA has been working to carry out our mission and vision while sharing our core values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility.
Our downtown Salem facility is a comfortable place for a diverse mix of people of all ages, races, backgrounds, and fitness levels. The Salem Family YMCA serves over 8,000 members annually, plus thousands more who attend camps, Child Development programs, or enroll in other lessons or programs outside of membership. In addition, the Family YMCA of Marion & Polk Counties is the umbrella organization for the four YMCA branches located in Salem, Silverton, Stayton and Monmounth/Independence, and expands the delivery of the YMCA mission to the two-county area.
