The mission of the Outdoor School is to facilitate the development of community and environmental stewardship through a direct, hands-on experience with nature. The Outdoor School strives to teach participants the values of respect for nature, other people, and themselves. The Outdoor School is located across from Lake Cachuma on Highway 154 (about 20 miles north of Santa Barbara, CA) at Rancho Alegre. Rancho Alegre is 213 acres of chaparral, oak woodland and riparian forests surrounded by US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and California State land.
