The Pop Music Academy was created by Stamford’s own, Christine Occhino. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Music Business & Management with a concentration in Vocal Performance from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Christine went on to work in the Digital Marketing department for the Big Red Program at Columbia Records/Sony Music Entertainment in NYC. After her term there, she started teaching pop voice lessons at a local conservatory when she realized there was a huge void for music students in this area. There were plenty of dance schools and options for standard music lessons around, but there was really no place to go if a student wanted to learn the fundamentals of today’s popular music. With her experience in the music industry, from the side of the record label and the side of the aspiring performer, Christine knew she needed to create a learning environment for today’s music student. With that inspiration, The Pop Music Academy was born… and this is not your mother’s music school.
