The Summer Academy for High School Students at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is the definitive summer program for talented and motivated high school students intent on a fine arts education. There is no better place to prepare for art school than the Academy, with its exceptional faculty of practicing, professional artists. The Summer Academy is an intensive four-week foundational program of college-level courses in drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking, designed to develop your artistry and skill. In addition to challenging studio classes, one day a week is devoted to exploring the world of contemporary art and artists: · Visits to artists' studios to learn first-hand how they develop ideas, create art and build their careers. · Day trips to the Barnes Foundation, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and renowned museums and galleries in New York City and Washington, D.C.
