Over the past several weeks, Oregon Swimmers attended the Oregon Senior Open, Husky Invitational and Junior Nationals. At each one of these meets, Oregon swimmers set new records.
MAC's Tristan Furnary bettered the 13-14 boys 100 free record to 46.28. Aaron Ghiglieri held the previous record at 46.52. Tristan also bettered the 100 back record. Tristan covered the distance in 50.57, bettering Tommy Brewer's year old record of 51.61.
Tommy set two records in the next age group up at the Husky meet. Swimming for Current Swimming, Tommy bettered the 15-16 boys 100 breasstroke twice. In prelims he bettered Gabriel Rooker's 2010 record of 56.27 by about one and a half seconds, stopping the clock at 54.84. In finals, he lowered the record again to 54.52. Tommy also lowered Jacob Pebley's 200 IM record twice. First, he lowered the record the old record of 1:50.51 by over two seconds to 1:48.39. In the final, Tommy dropped the time a further second to 1:47.17.
At the Speedo Junior Nationals, Cole Hurwitz of the Dolphins bettered Luke Ekhoff's 17-18 200 yard breaststroke record of 1:59.99. Cole finished the race in 1:59.47.
