The School’s strong commitment to thoroughly understanding the cognitive, social/emotional, artistic, and physical growth of children has led to a curriculum that is engaging and accessible while also very challenging and highly effective. Lowell’s curriculum is carefully designed to promote active, collaborative learning, with an emphasis on building conceptual understanding and strong foundational skills. Students at Lowell take part in a program that is rich in its diversity of offerings: reading, writing, literature, math, science, social studies, Spanish, visual arts, music, drama, dance, health, physical education, and technology. Deliberate curricular integration across the disciplines helps students connect what they learn in the various disciplines and is very much a part of the Lowell experience from Pre-Primary to Middle School. The curriculum also utilizes a spiral approach to skill acquisition, allowing for very thoughtful introduction, development, reinforcement, and application of skills as children progress through the grades.
