Herzl Camp was founded in 1946 by committed Jews from all over the Midwest. Herzl Camp's unique role as an independent, trans-denominational, Zionist overnight camp quickly led to a large camper base from the Midwest, across the country and around the world. Camp's mission has remained unchanged in over 60 years of service:
Herzl Camp is a welcoming, independent camp where young people become self-reliant, create lasting Jewish friendships, and develop commitment and love for Judaism and Israel. Herzl Camp creates a vibrant Jewish community of future leaders.
