Camp Grow's Board of Directors held a discussion regarding public access to the Camp Grow property for hiking and biking at its fall 2015 meeting. The widespread appreciation of the access that has been allowed to cross the camp property in recent years was noted by many Board members. The counterpoint raised was that allowing the public to cross the camp creates a liability. As camper safety is our top priority, the Board voted to close camp to public access for hikers and bikers effective immediately. While we acknowledge that bikers and hikers have enjoyed using this path, a policy of open access to a camp that is used primarily by children and youth subjects the camp to liabilities we cannot assume. There is an alternate bike route available to the public which allows bikers and hikers to complete the loop around Green Lake using Highway K. The Board of Directors and staff of Camp Grow regret that this action is necessary and has unavoidable consequences to our friends and neighbors. Camp Grow will continue to provide opportunities for groups and individuals to visit and use the property, volunteer and participate in camp programs contingent on approval by Nick Radcliffe, Camp Director
