Gaining national prominence since its launch in 2004 as an innovative summer camp, the Camp Jam program gives young musicians the chance to meet others their age for the music experience of a lifetime. Campers form their own bands, write songs, record, make a music video and play a live concert in front of family and friends. Special rock star master classes are part of the weekly curriculum and have included Richard Fortus (Guns and Roses) Kareem Devlin, (Lady Gaga) Daryl Jones, (Rolling Stones) Carmine Appice, (Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart) Troy Mclawhorn (Evanescence) and several other music legends.
More importantly, Camp Jam offers young musicians the opportunity to improve their performance skills, build confidence and practice teamwork; all lessons that last long after their week at Camp jam is over.
Campers come to Camp Jam from all over the United States and abroad with one thing in common, they LOVE music. No matter what style of music they are interested in they come to Camp Jam to play and interact with other musicians their own age.
To qualify for Camp Jam's program, campers must be 11 to 17 years of age and have at least 6 months of experience on their instrument (guitar, bass, drums or keyboards), vocalists are not required to have any previous experience.
When campers arrive they are placed in bands according to their age, experience level and favorite music/bands. After bands are formed they are asked to choose a cover song as their concert performance piece or they may choose to write an original.
The day curriculum consists of band rehearsals, live stage performances, songwriting, recording and special workshops. There is also surprise master class with a professional artist or band as part of the day program curriculum.
The overnight program intensifies the experience with an extended curriculum. Overnight campers form side project bands, storyboard and star in a music video, show their talent in an open mic night performance, record a video soundtrack and participate in open jam sessions. The week culminates with a live concert on Friday night at 6 pm for family and friends. The concert is filmed and is available for purchase. The camp schedule is attached for you to review. Schedules and classes are subject to change.
Camp Jam hires only the best music professionals to teach the program. All staff go through an extensive background check and are vetted and trained.
