About Camp [-]

Camp Agawak for Girls, established in 1921, on the shores of pristine Blue Lake in Minocqua, Wisconsin is much more than a place where girls from across the country go during the summer to water-ski, swim, sail, play sports or compete in color wars, it’s a haven for growth, an oasis of self-discovery and bonding.

Agawak’s goal is to provide a safe, fun and nurturing camp environment in which each girl acquires lifelong skills, a strong sense of self and is enriched through their camp experience. Agawak meets the unique needs of each camper and assures their happiness, personal security and development during their time with us. Our sisterhood of Agawak alumnae credit their summers at Agawak as among the greatest influence in their lives.

Agawak's campers range in age from 8-16 years old and come from across the United States and internationally. Each camper is an integral part of the camp family. Campers choose their own classes from a wide range of water and land activities. Every girl selects her activities based on their interests and personality. Activities are carefully supervised by experienced and qualified instructors. Staff are hand selected for their knowledge and expertise as well as their character, warmth and genuine interest in children. Camp Agawak also brings in qualified staff from around the world which adds cultural diversity to our program.

The girls are offered an abundance of over 40 different activities including: aerobics, archery, arts & crafts, basketball, biking, candle making, canoeing, choir, cooking, dance, drama, fishing, Frisbee golf, ga-ga ball, gymnastics, jogging, overnight camping trips, paddle boarding, photography, riflery, radio station, sailing, soccer, softball, snorkeling, swimming, tennis, trampball, tubing, waterskiing, volleyball, zumba and much more. We work hard to make sure each camper is fully engaged and having the time of their life. Each summer we add new things to keep our program exciting. Recently added was an 55' Tango Tower with zip line, a 40' gymnastics tumbling track and a 26 foot authentic tepee, which sleeps 16.

Camp Agawak has 25 camper cabins with approximately 8-10 girls in each cabin and 3 counselors living directly with each group of girls. Camp Agawak groups campers based upon the grade campers have recently completed. Our cabins are attractive and well maintained and are equipped with heat, electricity, bathrooms and bunk beds.

Before each summer begins the administrative staff spends countless hours planning all types of unique programs and activities for campers. Without exception, every June 30th, the camp hosts a unique Halloween celebration where campers get dressed up in costumes, participate in a Halloween carnival, hay ride and ride the Agawak fire truck. Another program we present is called Gold Rush. This is an old western style game which involves cowboys, bandits, fake and real maps and a hidden treasure. An historic program dating back to 1921 that runs throughout the entire summer is our Blue and White color war competition. Blue and White teaches the girls the importance of leadership, sportsmanship, perseverance and teamwork. Blue & White is full of spirit, energy and time honored traditions.

At Agawak girls discover a sisterhood of friends. There is truly something special about “camp friends” and quickly parents come to see this magical bond that emerges. Campers will meet new friends from across the country and world. Children more than ever need a place to belong, to feel like they are special, to discover who they truly are and to be a part of something bigger than them self. Campers never forget their experience at Camp Agawak and bonds formed remain with them for a lifetime.

Camp Agawak offers a variety of programs:  4 day/night, a 2 week session,  two 3 1/2 week sessions or one full 7 week program.
