Astronomy Camps are "immersion experiences" using astronomy as a fun teaching and discovery tool. Participants become astronomers operating large research telescopes (20, 60, 61, 90 inch diameters) and interacting with leading scientists. The Camps are held in unique "Sky Island" environments at research observatories on Mt. Lemmon and Kitt Peak. Students of all ages observe, record, and monitor a wide range of celestial objects and learn first-hand about astronomy, physics, mathematics, and engineering. Daytime activities hands-on projects involving science and engineering as well as talks on modern astronomical topics and space art, field trips, group research projects, etc. The Camp's staff includes University faculty as well as graduate and undergraduate students.
